Federal ministers request PM not to accept Nadeem Afzal Chan's resignation

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The government ministers have requested the Prime Minister not to accept Nadeem Afzal Chan’s resignation, said sources.

The ministers who have asked the prime minister not to accept Nadeem Afzal Chan s resignation include Fawad Chaudhry, Shirin Mazari and Ali Zaidi.

It may be recalled that Prime Minister Imran Khan s spokesman and Special Assistant for Parliamentary Coordination Nadeem Afzal Chan had resigned yesterday.

According to sources, Nadeem Afzal Chan had differences with government on many issues. He has tendered his resignation to the Prime Minister. In addition, Nadeem Afzal Chan was critical of the Prime Minister s late visit to the victims of the Machh tragedy.

He expressed his helplessness in a statement on a social networking site on January 8, saying, “I’m ashamed over the bodies of these helpless labourers.”

Sources said that the Prime Minister also had reservations over some of his remarks due to which there was tension between the two.
As a spokesman, Nadeem Afzal Chan never met the PM s expectations even when it came to criticizing other politicians.

Nadeem Afzal Chan, who left PPP and joined PTI on April 18, 2018, has confirmed his resignation. Nadeem Afzal Chan and Shahbaz Gill also clashed on Twitter. According to sources, Nadeem Afzal Chan was signaled to resign by the Prime Minister.

According to Dunya News, sources close to Nadeem Afzal Chan have said that he will remain associated with PTI but has resigned as special assistant.

It may be recalled that in the cabinet meeting held on Tuesday, the Prime Minister had made it clear that a person who could not follow party policy should resign.
